Dwell Featured: Casa Proserpina
Casa Proserpina owner, Hadley O'Regan, had only heard of San Miguel de Allende a few years ago. She was intrigued by the lively little city, but little did she know she would shortly be the new owner of a 300+-year-old home in the heart of the city.
Hadley booked a flight and planned her trip. While walking around the streets of SMA she thought it would be fun to look at some properties, just to see what the casas of the town looked like. Casa Proserpina had been on the market for one day, but the connection was immediate. She made an offer that same day and the house was hers.
Hadley greatly appreciated the true bones of the house; the incredible archways, the original stonework, but she has a fabulous eye for design and saw an opportunity with this space. Some renovations and a touch of luxury later, she had transformed this casa into a dream destination. The name of the house, Casa Proserpina, means 'spring' in Latin. Hadley saw this as fitting for the rejuvenation that she brought to the house but also the rejuvenation that the house gave to her.
